About Me

Hola mis amigos! Soy Lisa.

After spending my happy childhood as the ‘new girl’ at nine different schools and homes across the world, I consider myself one of life’s lucky nomads.

As an adult I now seem to get itchy feet very easily.  The longest place I’ve ever lived in my life was in our ‘newlywed’ home in Berkshire, where our two sons spent their first few years.

I’m originally from Scotland, the place I will always regard as my ‘real home’, and am lucky that my Edinburgh accent has stayed with me despite all of the moves!

Three and a half years ago, my husband and I were craving a new adventure before our children were in the midst of their critical school years. So when the opportunity came up to move to Barcelona we jumped at the chance.

A serious house relocation, two cars sold, little school friend goodbyes, an old dog vaccinated, and (quite a few!) farewell dos later, we are now settled in our new home and have truly fallen in love with this beautiful city.

Home is wherever I am with you.

Since leaving the UK I have moved on from being the full-time owner of a successful award-winning UK design business (More Than Words – where you can still buy many of my original designs!) allowing me more time to enjoy life!

This blog is a way for me to capture everything from my personal day-to-day challenges and experiences in our new home of Castelldefels (about 25 mins outside BCN), and also includes everything from my favourite places, to tasty foodie joints and interiors finds (in another life I would have been an interior designer!) across Barcelona and surrounding areas.

I hope it provides some useful information for fellow expats who are on (or thinking about) a similar journey, and for tourists who fancy visiting this gem of a place.

P.S. I’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in writing a guest post, or for reviews and collaborations.  Get in touch!
